Our ready-to-join trips are for teens aged 15 - 20 who are looking for impact travel experiences, community-based tourism and cultural immersion trips to Cusco, Peru! These trips are ideal for homeschoolers, gap year students, or teens from schools without travel programs.

Our trips build confidence, connection and respect nature. Here's what you need to know about ready-to-join trips:

Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and introductions.

Arrive in Cusco and transfer to the Sacred Valley. Spend a relaxed afternoon to help you adjust to the high altitude. In the evening, you'll join a welcome talk about the ecological zones and culture of the Andes.


Day 2: Short acclimatization hike and traditional pottery class. .


Enjoy a short acclimatization hike to a stunning waterfall to help you adjust to the altitude and get moving. Followed by a traditional pottery class. In this workshop, you'll participate in a Quechua ceramic experience, learning how to shape clay using ancient techniques passed down through generations.


Day 3: Maras Salt Mines and Lunch & Paddle at Huaypo Lake. .


Start the day hiking through Maras village and then visit The Maras Salt Mines an ancient, family-run complex of over 6,000 salt ponds in Peru, continuously producing salt since pre-Inca times. Then head over to Huaypo Lake for an delicious lunch by the lake where we will spend the afternoon paddling through its pristine waters..


Day 4: High Andes Hiking Adventure


Enjoy a full-day hike in the Puna zone at 4,200 meters, offering epic mountain views and unique plants like ichu grass. You'll meet Quechua people and enjoy a picnic. We customize the route to fit everyone's fitness level and provide hike details the day before. Overnight at Casita Huaran in the Sacred Valley. Overnight at a hotel in the south valley to be closer to our next day adventure.


Day 5 to 7: Volunteering at Ninos del Arco Iris


Start your mornings making a difference at the Niños del Arco Iris school in Urubamba, assisting teachers and sharing your English skills with grateful students. We will co-create hands on workshops for the kids where you will get the chance to share your knowledge and share beautiful moments with amazing local kids.


Day 8: Alternative Rainbow Mountain Palcoyo


Experience the stunning Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain, an outdoor adventure that offers breathtaking views and vibrant landscapes. This less-visited alternative to the traditional Rainbow Mountain features colorful rock formations and scenic hiking trails, allowing you to explore the unique beauty of the Andes while enjoying a peaceful atmosphere away from the crowds.


Day 9 to 11: Apurimac River Rafting adventure


Experience the thrill of whitewater rafting in the Apurimac River, one of the deepest canyons in the world. Depending on the group's experience and goals, we can choose a more relaxed journey through the Black Canyon with class 3 rapids or an adventurous challenge in the White Canyon with thrilling class 5 rapids. Both options offer stunning landscapes, adrenaline-pumping excitement, and unforgettable moments.


Day 12: Express Inca Trail and Machu Picchu visit.


Start your day early in Ollantaytambo, taking the train to the mid-point station to hike a section of the famous Inca Trail. Walk the paths once traveled by the Incas, through stunning landscapes, ending with a breathtaking view of Machu Picchu. Enter through the Sun Gate to explore its wonders. In the afternoon, take the train back to Ollanta and head to Cusco for the night.


Day 13: Cusco Gastronomic and Cultural Day


Discover the historic center of Cusco on foot. We'll visit important sacred sites like Qorikancha and take time to explore the city's diverse gastronomic experiences. Enjoy a traditional dish at San Pedro Market and savor exquisite specialty coffee at a trendy café. Make room for a delicious farewell dinner.


Day 14: Departure Day


We'll drop you off at Cusco airport, where we'll say our final goodbyes and wish you safe travels.

On group trips we partner with local organizations to show collaboration and work for meaningful change in action. Teens come back from trips with a new perspective, and a greater sense of global awareness.

SAFETY APPROACH
AND RISK MANAGEMENT

At Andean Adventure Academy, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. We prioritize preparedness for emergencies: all staff are trained in First Aid and carry a well-equipped First Aid Kit.

Our programs are carefully designed with risk management in mind, and we have doctors on call, with constant awareness of the nearest hospital's location.
We work closely with a clinic on the ground and we requiere all of our students come with an medical international insurance.

In the event of a medical emergency, we will coordinate and oversee transfer to a hospital. Participants are responsible for any medical expenses incurred, sointernational medical insurance is required for all students and faculty.
Please inform us of any pre-existing medical conditions or physical ailments before departure. We have established ties with healthcare professionals,facilities, and medical consultants to support participants. A detailed health and safety plan with policies and procedures is available upon request.
